The event aimed to identify the most innovative solutions for applying<strong> quantum algorithms<\/strong> and technologies in the <strong>industrial sector<\/strong>, addressing challenges and optimizing performance and production efficiency.<\/p>\n<p>Among the numerous projects presented, three stood out and claimed victory. They were selected by a jury composed of Dr. <strong>Lorenzo Cordin<\/strong> (UNIPOL), Dr.<strong> Antonio Falabella<\/strong> (CNAF-INFN), Prof. <strong>Stefano Lodi<\/strong> (DISI-UNIBO), and Dr. <strong>Riccardo Mengoni<\/strong> (CINECA).<\/p>\n<p>1st Place<br \/>\n<em><strong>&#8220;VQE for Ground State of Hydrogen Molecule&#8221;<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/em>Simulation of the hydrogen molecule state to support industrial applications in the fields of chemistry, pharmaceuticals, energy, and materials science.<\/p>\n<p>2nd Place<br \/>\n<em><strong>&#8220;Quantum Annealing for Portfolio Optimization&#8221;<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nIn the realm of finance, this project applied quantum annealing to optimize stock portfolios, minimizing risks while maximizing returns.<\/p>\n<p>3rd Place<br \/>\n<em><strong>&#8220;Max Independent Set for Charging Stations&#8221;<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nThis project focused on optimizing the distribution of charging stations for electric vehicles, ensuring efficient placement and operation<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The two-day hackathon, &#8220;QuHack4IA&#8221; officially drew to a close, sponsored by IFAB, Leith\u00e0 S.r.l., the University of Bologna, CINECA, and the National Institute of Nuclear Physics.
