A partnership has been established between IFAB Foundation, Radarmeteo, and Hypermeteo – companies operating in the meteorology sector – to commercialize and distribute the European Extreme Events Climate Index – <\/strong>E3<\/sup>CI<\/strong><\/a> to organizations and businesses affected by climate change.<\/p>\n

The index provides monthly information on the frequency and severity of extreme weather<\/strong> events in the European region, analyzing seven components: cold and heatwaves, droughts, extreme precipitation, extreme winds, fire propensity, and hailstorms<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The index data can be provided on various geographical scales<\/strong> (national, regional, provincial), or as gridded datasets for more advanced users covering the entire European domain.<\/p>\n

The index, born as a research project from the collaboration between IFAB Foundation<\/strong>, CMCC<\/strong> Foundation<\/strong> (Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change Foundation), and Leith\u00e0<\/strong>, a a data development company, will be exclusively distributed by Radarmeteo and Hypermeteo. The objective is to provide reliable and easily accessible data that can be used to analyze and forecast the emerging economic damages from extreme weather events.<\/p>\n

Marco Becca<\/strong>, Director of IFAB, stated:
\n“The increasingly frequent extreme weather events, with their dramatic impact, make us realize that the use of data, made possible by modern supercomputing infrastructure, is becoming increasingly important. Understanding these phenomena is fundamental for any preventive action. That is why IFAB finances and collaborates on innovative and practical projects in the green sector and for climate change management, making them available to businesses, public administration, and citizens.”<\/p>\n

Massimo Crespi<\/strong>, Administrator of Radarmeteo, stated:
\n“Through the promotion of the E3CI index on the market, our goal is to find a working tool that connects the technological potential of scientific supercomputing with the needs of businesses facing the major challenges of climate change. Our ambition is to create integration between these different systems, so that their cooperation can generate innovative responses to the critical issues of the present.”<\/p>\n
