On the 17th and 18th of January, at the CUBO Unipol in Bologna<\/strong><\/a>, the Hackaton took place: it focused on the communication of extreme weather phenomena on the basis of data provided by the European Extreme Events Climate Index<\/strong>. Teams – composed of experts in weather sciences, environmental communication and data visualization – were asked to illustrate the information content of E3CI, selecting a target among businesses, public administrations and general public. During the afternoon of day two, the 7 competing groups presented their projects.<\/p>\n

The event ended with a speech by Renzo Giovanni Avesani<\/strong> – Leith\u00e0 CEO and Unipol Group CIO. After that, the best projects were awarded:<\/p>\n

\u25ba 3rd place: Project \u201cCome sta l\u2019Italia?\u201d
\n<\/em><\/strong>This project consists of a free digital platform which displays available data on extreme weather events occurred in Italy since 1981, with a focus on single local areas.<\/p>\n

\u25ba 2nd place: Project \u201cXtremist\u201d
\n<\/em><\/strong>This project promotes an awareness campaign involving artists from all over Italy with the aim of targeting that extreme weather phenomenon that intensively impacts their city.<\/p>\n

\u25ba 1st place: Project \u201cCalamity\u201d
\n<\/em><\/strong>This projects designs a widget for the visualization of the European Climate Index data in a web and social media optimized format.<\/p>\n
