The most ambitious ideas need room to become reality. IFAB gives innovators access to a unique infrastructure ecosystem in Europe, from proprietary computing resources to some of the world’s most powerful supercomputers, all the way to quantum computing, to turn visions into concrete, scalable, market-ready solutions.

As an active partner in major national and European initiatives, IFAB enjoys privileged access to the most advanced supercomputing infrastructures in the world. Through IT4LIA AI Factory and EuroCC Italy, businesses, startups and institutions can tap into the HPC resources of the EuroHPC network including the pre-exascale supercomputer Leonardo, its upgrade LISA, the cloud system GAIA and the new dedicated IT4LIA supercomputer to train AI models, develop data-driven applications and run high-impact experiments, with the full advisory, technical and project management support of the IFAB team.

IFAB is an active member of the Innovate consortium — an advanced computing infrastructure dedicated to developing projects in collaboration with businesses. Hosted at the DAMA Tecnopolo Data Manifattura in Emilia-Romagna, LEED Gold certified and interconnected through an 800 GbE Ethernet network, it provides separate HPC and cloud partitions, high-performance storage and full energy sustainability.
Available resources:

• GPU: 11 units optimised for AI/ML: large-scale model training, fine-tuning and inference.
• CPU: 8-10 units for distributed orchestration, federated learning and complex event processing.
• Data Lake: 410 TB of high-performance storage for training datasets and model repositories.
• CEPH: 41 TB of distributed storage for virtual disks and persistent volumes.

IFAB is already operational in quantum computing, with active projects and consolidated expertise. A strategic frontier for businesses ready to explore the potential of quantum technologies from optimising complex processes to applied research — with direct access to quantum systems hosted at the DAMA Tecnopolo Data Manifattura in Emilia-Romagna.
