From March 19 to 21, 2026, the DAMA Tecnopolo Data Manifattura Emilia-Romagna in Bologna will open its doors to the public for the very first time with Tecnòpolis, a festival dedicated to Supercomputing, Big Data and Artificial Intelligence.
The event invites the wider community to step inside one of Europe’s most advanced technology hubs through three days of free talks, workshops and public discussions, exploring how cutting-edge technologies are shaping our present and driving the transformations of the future. Connecting citizens, research and industry
Tecnòpolis was created to bring citizens, students, businesses and professionals closer to the key challenges of digital transformation and sustainability, encouraging dialogue between research institutions, public bodies and local communities. Through a rich programme of talks, workshops and interactive sessions, participants will have the opportunity to enter the spaces of the Bologna Technopole and discover how Big Data, Artificial Intelligence and supercomputing are already helping tackle some of the most pressing challenges of our time – from the green transition and natural resource management to industrial innovation and technological development.
IFAB at Tecnòpolis: data and innovation for sustainable water management
Among the events featured in the festival programme, IFAB – International Foundation Big Data and Artificial Intelligence for Human Development will host a talk dedicated to one of today’s most urgent global challenges: the sustainable management of water resources.
The session, titled “TECHPILL – Managing Water Resources Efficiently and Sustainably” scheduled on Saturday, March 21st (2:30 PM), will feature Massimo Temporelli, science and technology communicator, and Marta Carboni, Head of Innovation & Business Development at IFAB. The discussion will explore how data analytics, predictive models, Artificial Intelligence and advanced technologies can support more efficient and responsible water management, highlighting practical applications across territories and industrial systems.
