The new UNIBO Master’s program, sponsored by IFAB, with partnerships from leading HPC research institutes and major private companies
“HPQC – High-performance and quantum computing” is the new Master’s program from the University of Bologna, specifically designed to train professionals for employment in the high-performance computing and quantum technologies sector, a rapidly expanding national and international context that finds applications in private and public companies, agencies, and institutions at both national and international levels.
IFAB sponsors this one-of-a-kind course, conceived to bridge the gap between research and industry through a mix of computational techniques teachings and 575 hours of internships with the program’s partners, including research institutes – CINECA, INAF, INFN, CMCC, ECMWF, ICSC – and major private companies such as E4 Engineering, Esteco Engineering, Ferrari, IBM-Quantum Italy, and Leithà-Unipol.
The program is aimed at candidates with a strong background in STEM disciplines, recent graduates, or professionals employed at institutions, public or private entities, and private companies. Classes will begin in January 2025, will be held in English, and will cover both the foundations of scientific modeling and computational techniques, including quantum computing methods for studying complex systems, as well as practical skills and applications for working with modern large-scale computing infrastructures.
