The IFAB Foundation has launched a selection process to identify a legal consultant to support the project “Personalized Data-Driven Prevention Of Neurodegenerative Disorders: A Datalake & Artificial Intelligence Approach” (AIND). The search is aimed at a professional with proven technical and strategic skills, capable of ensuring compliance with current regulations and contributing to the success of the project.
The AIND project is aimed at developing an artificial intelligence-based algorithm for predicting the risk of neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, by integrating clinical, molecular, genetic, and instrumental data. The selected legal consultant will be responsible for supporting the management of issues related to data access, use, and protection, ensuring full compliance with regulations.
Thematic area
The legal consultant must possess advanced expertise in the field of new technology law, with particular reference to artificial intelligence and the use of big data in the healthcare sector. A deep knowledge of healthcare law and regulations on privacy and personal data protection is essential, particularly GDPR, the EU AI Act, and the Data Governance Act. The candidate must adopt a “law by design” approach, ensuring that legal and regulatory principles are integrated from the early stages of system design. This approach will ensure compliance with applicable regulations and protect individual rights as well as ethical considerations throughout all phases of the project’s development and implementation.
Budget and funding
The AIND project is funded through public PNRR funds. The funding will cover the eligible expenses of the involved partners.
Consultancy duration
The AIND project started in March 2024. Since March, significant research has been conducted on databases, literature review, and state-of-the-art analysis. The project is expected to conclude, unless extended, by the end of August 2025. The consultancy is considered active for the entire duration of the project, including any extensions, as it is funded by the PNRR.

- Operational report: Prepare a document that describes in detail how the consultancy will be carried out, including operational phases, approach, timelines, and potential challenges.
All documents must be complete and aimed at demonstrating the selection criteria that will be used by the internal Evaluation Committee at IFAB.
