This paper analyzes, quantifies, and monitors extreme weather events in Italy using the European Extreme Events Climate Index (E3CI). Drawing on data collected in the past hydrological year, the paper highlights the significance of the index in revealing trends and impacts of extreme events in Italy. Prepared by IFAB with the support of the CMCC Foundation and Leithà Unipol Group, the document uses data, research, statistics, and trends to increasingly illustrate the rise in frequency and intensity of extreme atmospheric phenomena, posing dangerous impacts on geographical areas, productive sectors, and communities.
In addition to a thorough examination of historical data and the identification of medium and long-term scenarios, “Come sta l’Italia?” presents the practical applications offered by the European Extreme Events Climate Index.
