The 2024 edition of IFAB 4 Next Generation Talents comes to a close: young talents’ ideas to tackle future challenges with Supercomputing technologies

The 2024 edition of the “IFAB 4 Next Generation Talents” project, the program dedicated by IFAB to the best talents selected among university students from Emilia-Romagna universities, has successfully concluded: the initiative, which involved 100 young people from various universities in the region, saw participants engaged in exploring new technological frontiers to address future challenges and those of our time.

During the just-concluded edition, students had the opportunity to collaborate with five prominent companies in the regional and national territory, all members of IFAB: Alstom, Bonfiglioli, Crif, Emil Banca Credito Cooperativo, and Prometeia. Coordinated by BOOM, the Knowledge and Innovation Hub of CRIF, participants attended seminars with international experts and worked on practical projects, guided by corporate mentors, with the aim of bridging the gap between the academic world and the needs of companies, promoting skills hybridization, and fostering new ideas.

The concluding event

On Friday, June 7, the concluding event of “IFAB 4 Next Generation Talents” took place, featuring the presentation of the five best projects developed by the students. Each project, associated with one of the partner companies, was evaluated by a panel of experts and symbolically awarded.

As part of the event program, there was also an important debate – entitled “Ethics and Impacts of Artificial Intelligence on Society” – which saw the participation of Professor Paola Manes from the University of Bologna and Professor Luciano Floridi, director of the Center for Digital Ethics at the University of Bologna and Yale University. On that occasion, Prof. Floridi emphasized the importance of conscious use of AI to build a fairer and more sustainable society, capable of better addressing the challenges of our time. Professor Manes then highlighted the success of the project in attempting to create a space for experimentation and growth for young talents, emphasizing the crucial role of synergies between companies and universities in promoting innovation. Thanks to these collaborations, students were able to transform their academic knowledge into concrete solutions for the business world.

The 2024 edition of “IFAB 4 Next Generation Talents” has proven to be an important training and networking platform, preparing young people to become protagonists of technological innovation. The next edition of the project, scheduled for the fall, promises to continue nurturing talents and innovative ideas, further strengthening the bond between the academic world and industry.
