AI for tackling Climate Change: a new event by IFAB 4 Next Generation Talents

Following an introduction to the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence and its applications in the manufacturing, economic, and creative sectors, the fifth session of the 2024 IFAB 4 Next Generation Talents program will focus on climate and weather-related themes.

The 100 students selected for the program, supported by five sponsoring companies and in collaboration with BOOM, will attend a seminar by Professor Florence Rabier, the General Director of the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF), which houses its Data Center in the Technopole of Bologna. Responding to the global climate emergency, which also involves extreme weather events, the speaker will highlight ECMWF’s excellence in studying meteorological and climate challenges. She will demonstrate how Artificial Intelligence can play a role in this research, integrating with models based on physical interactions in these systems and numerical approaches.

At the end of the seminar, Maurizio Monaco will discuss the concept of environmental and climate risk and how to tackle it from a business perspective. He will share insights from Prometeia, one of the sponsors of the 2024 edition of the program.

Below are the details of the event program.
