An event on the future of the energy sector in the context of climate change – April 16, 2024, Bologna

Tuesday 16th April, 2:30-5PM
at ILLUMIA, Via de’ Carracci, 69/2, Bologna

Energy of the Future: meteorological data and AI to look beyond climate change

The energy sector will play a strategic role in the coming years on a global scale: the need to drastically reduce carbon dioxide emissions and meet a growing energy demand. To achieve a sustainable balance between these two requirements, a significant effort will be needed from many actors, including governments, investors, companies, and individuals, especially in analyzing climate trends to optimize production, plan energy resources, and maximize infrastructure security.

How can we best leverage meteorological data to improve energy management and limit the repercussions of climate change in the sector? The meeting aims to be an opportunity for discussion to increase user knowledge on issues related to climate change and to explore the impacts of weather scenarios on the energy sector. Among various contents, the climate trend in Italy over the last year will be presented, and there will be a discussion on how to transfer knowledge on extreme weather events to successfully address both current and future climate risks. There will also be space to show how the study and application of meteorological models can bring benefits to the energy sector.
